For our last group field trip before we all part, the program organized a visit to the local Hook Norton brewery, Broughton Castle, and dinner at the George Hotel. The brewery is 150 years old, as is most of its machinery, and the ale is even delivered by draft horses. Broughton Castle is the home of Lord and Lady SayeandSele, whose surname is Fiennes, of the Ralph, Joseph, and Ranulph clan. Their home is an architectural patchwork, the oldest parts dating from the 13th century. Dinner at the George Hotel was a long and festive affair, rivaling the group dinner in Sicily for food and wine, but tinged with the bittersweet note of our imminent departures.
