On my third day I left Oxford and traveled north all day until I reached the town of Keswick in the English Lake District. Known for its mountains, water, and great hikes, the region of Cumbria is very beautiful and I was fortunate that there were several ancient monuments here which gave me the reason I had been needing to visit. Keswick, though relatively small, is a central location in Northern Cumbria and also holds the distinction of having the most outdoor stores of any town in England. There is also the Keswick pencil museum, which houses the world's largest pencil. The best part of staying in the town, however, were the hikes, including one along the abandoned railway.
