Mount Esja is just north of Reykjavik across the water, and consequently I've stared at it every day since I've gotten here. On the 28th, Liz, Dan, Will, Andrea, and I headed there and, after three buses, started our climb. It was a typical September day here: rainy in parts, sunny in a smaller part, and increasingly cold and windy. Sadly, the summit was stuck in a cloud, but the mountain was still beautiful to behold amidst the autumn mist and greenery. On the way back, Dan, Will, and I tried our hand at hitchhiking and got a ride with a Reykjavik coffee-shop owner on his way back from visiting his father in Akranes. All in all, a great trip.
