Saturday was dedicated to the Louvre, at least as much of it as can be done in a single day. The musuem's collections are, of course, overwhelming. Among the highlights were the Mona Lisa, Canova's Cupid and Psyche, the Venus de Milo, the ancient Greek Nike of Samothrace, and the hall of large-format paintings, boasting many of Jean-Jacques David's most famous works and Ingres' "Grand Odalisque". In the end, we spent about seven hours in the complex before walking through the gardens of the Tuileries to recover from all the masterpieces.
